To keep things simple, below are a few questions we find ourselves answering often.
Do you guarantee success?
No. We guarantee opportunity and coaching. We have an outstanding record of success but you’ll need to successfully operate the controls and attend 100% of a class to earn your completion card, which may also be a Wisconsin road test waiver.
Will I get my motorcycle license after this class?
Not exactly. If successful, you’ll earn a road test waiver. You’ll still need to make a trip to the DMV to get your license but you’ll bypass the street test that can be very challenging to schedule into your life.
Do you offer on-road training?
As of Spring 2019, we’ll be offering some closed-course training to get you up to road speed without traffic interfering with your learning. We’ll also have a program for those that have been trained to experience the fun of Spyder and Ryker on the open road with one of our staff leading the way.
When signing up for a class via the Can-Am portal, you’re paying Can-Am directly. Their policy plainly states that before you enter your info, “there will be no refunds”. However, if you sign up and give Riding Solutions 14 days notice (before your class begins), we’ll reschedule you to another Riding Solutions class at no additional charge (one time only).
13 ~ 7 days notice will result in a $50 rescheduling fee. Less than 7 days notice won’t be rescheduled or refunded. If a Can-Am class is cancelled, you’ll be offered rescheduling options within that season or the following season.
Class registration payments made to Riding Solutions LLC directly through our website are non-refundable. However, given 14 days notice we’ll apply your money to the class of your choosing over the next season. This can result in additional charges if pricing or class selections change.
Discounts and dealer sponsorship don’t apply to all courses and are non-transferable.
If Riding Solutions or the class location cancels your class, you’ll be offered a reschedule or refund.
Do I have to sign off on the waivers and memorandums of understanding to participate?
Yes, all waivers will have to be accepted to participate in class. (Notarized, with parent signature, if you’re under 18) There are currently 3 waivers (Jan 15, 2020) General risk and liability waiver, Covid-19 waiver, photo waiver. There are 2 memorandums of understanding, one is for the BRC2 course specifically, others are for any and all other offerings we have.
Do I have to wear a cloth face covering?
Yes, while in the classroom, We’re currently following local and land owner business practices. Bring it with you. In the event the policy is relaxed, you can still choose to wear it.
Currently, Dane County, Milwaukee, Evinrude in Sturtevant,NTC Green Bay and Madison College and Alliant Energy Center all require us and our customers to wear masks (mouth and nose) face coverings while on their property.
Do I have to supply my own gear?
Yes, You must supply 3/4 or full face DOT helmet that is less than 5 years old, Sturdy jeans or riding pants (denim or leather) without extra rips or tears that cover your ankles and do not interfere with shifting, brakes or getting your feet past the foot pegs, not stretch denim, yoga pants or athletic pants Over the ankle 6″+ Sturdy boots (motorcycle specific, Work boots, or hiking boots). Shoes, dress boots, cowboy boots, winter boots, rain boots, tennis shoes, hightop or not are unacceptable.
Sturdy, full finger riding gloves with closed back of hand, (do not wear disposable or cotton gloves, or bicycle gloves) You must supply eye protection, that could be your helmet shield but we recommend safety glasses so you can improve air flow as you ride. You’ll need a sturdy long sleeved shirt with a closed neck. We’re looking for no skin from the neck down showing.
You might like to have a sturdy button up shirt that can be taken off when you’re not riding. Textile riding jackets tend to offer good protection when it’s hot, Dress for the weather, we ride in rain, wind and cold. We’ll pause for lightning.
Failure to bring all your gear to class will cause you to lose your class fee.
Is this activity safe?
To be honest, NO! Motorcycling is a dangerous and physical activity. You need to be in relatively good shape to make it through a class. You may be injured or even die during your participation in this course.
We’ve got a great track record but you need to know it’s possible. You need to be able to balance (2 wheel class), manipulate various controls (clutch, throttle, brakes, steering). We expect that students may tip over at zero speed during the first 3 exercises.
But, losing control while braking or under throttle that results in personal or property damage will be the responsibility of the student at the controls of the assigned motorcycle. The saying “you broke it, you bought it” comes into play here. You have to ride the bike on your own, we’re here for guidance and coaching.
If at any time you don’t feel comfortable, you can walk away. If you cannot achieve objectives or deemed a danger to yourself or others, you may be asked to move on to other things. We know it will hurt your ego but we hope to identify that and save you $30K vs destroying a brand new Can-Am spyder and hurting yourself and others in the process.
Nobody came to class to purchase a brand new wrecked vehicle and pay hospital bills, we’re trying to avoid that but we can’t guarantee your safety, you have to take financial responsibility for the situation.
